James Bowzer joins RLG International’s Executive Advisory Council

RLG International is pleased to announce that Mr. James Bowzer will serve as a member of the Executive Advisory Council. The Executive Advisory Council is a committee of senior executives who serve as product and service advisors from the upstream and downstream oil and gas, manufacturing, airline and aerospace industries.

James Bowzer has over 35 years of experience in the upstream energy industry and is currently a Director & prior Chief Executive Officer of Baytex Energy Corp. Prior to his roles at Baytex, Mr. Bowzer was a Vice President for Marathon Oil Corporation with responsibility for delivery on key shale plays throughout N. America.  He has had responsibility for production and exploration activities in unconventional plays in the Bakken, Eagle Ford, Woodford and Canadian heavy oil.  He has guided performance improvements across disciplines by forming strategies and concepts into actionable goals across organizations. Mr. Bowzer believes a decisive/action-oriented style and positive enthusiasm, along with humility and process discipline will lead to superior results.

Mr. Bowzer earned a Bachelor of Science degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Wyoming and completed the Graduate Advanced Management Program from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. 

Mr. Bowzer spent his early career in various engineering management positions working complex reservoir systems where he co-authored SPE papers and was awarded a patent on an EOR process in fractured reservoirs.  Mr. Bowzer has served the industry and communities throughout his career.  In addition to serving as an executive director of United Way, he has served on the board of directors for Junior Achievement, California Conservation Commission, Petroleum Association of Wyoming, and New Mexico Oil & Gas Association, the Independent Petroleum Association of America and on the Upstream Committee for the American Petroleum Institute.  He also has served on the Board of Directors for the University of Wyoming, School of Energy Resources.

Mr. Bowzer has worked with RLG for over 20 years. He is passionate about RLG principles of focus, accountability, involvement and leadership feedback. He has improved performance using RLG tools such as monthly business reviews, leadership development and tracking key performance indicators. Through RLG, Mr. Bowzer hopes to inspire more businesses to achieve their performance improvement goals and produce step change results.
