Bill Ambrose joined RLG International’s Executive Advisory Council

RLG International is pleased to announce that Mr. Bill Ambrose will serve as a member of the Executive Advisory Council. The Executive Advisory Council is a committee of senior executives who serve as product and service advisors from the upstream and downstream oil and gas, aerospace manufacturing, and airline industries.

Mr. Ambrose is a versatile executive whose international career has provided a wealth of experience and expertise in the areas of workforce engagement, operational excellence, capital project management, crisis management, and strategy development with effective implementation.  As part of a global company in the upstream Energy Industry, Bill has developed a broad understanding in delivering services to a worldwide customer base.   

Currently, Mr. Ambrose is consulting with businesses to grow and improve their performance.  In his previous roles with Transocean, Ltd., he served most recently as the Senior Vice President, Technical Services. In this role, he oversaw engineering, maintenance, and reliability of the fleet as well as asset divestitures, a drilling rig construction program valued at over $6 billion, and a brownfield project portfolio up to a $2 billion annual spend.  

While at Transocean, Mr. Ambrose worked with RLG on several important projects including: an offshore operations program on drilling rigs focused to enhance planning and execution behaviors to deliver increase equipment reliability, reduce the Between Well Maintenance durations, and the embedding of a stage gate process for the company’s upgrade and repair project work.  The most recent was the initiative to drive schedule optimization and critical path management into capital projects, RLG implemented detailed planning and an Operating Rhythm™.  The impact was a reduction in project overruns by 96% and significant safety improvements with over $1 billion impact.

Prior to this role, Mr. Ambrose served in various vice president, director and management roles within Transocean.  Responsibilities included both corporate functional roles that set governance and standards as well as senior operational roles with P&L accountability for portions of the business with revenues of $2.6 billion and a workforce of over 3200 employees.  He is known to be the go-to person to turn around challenged operations into a safe, profitable business.  He played a critical role in assisting the company through the crisis following the tragic Macondo Well Incident.  Mr. Ambrose represented the company in government hearings and interactions, presentations to customers throughout the world, as well as the major litigation effort.  

Mr. Ambrose has a reputation for seeing creative solutions in the midst of ambiguity.  He has led the way in his career in areas such as risk-based decision making, innovation of new equipment from concept to production and collaboration with strategic partners to generate mutually beneficial business outcomes.
