Capital projects within this petrochemical client have historically failed to deliver detailed engineering on-schedule. Silos between teams, a lack of accountability systems and mediocre process adherence all compounded the problem. RLG deployed the Project Excellence™ model, including one-on-one and team coaching, to challenge the status quo and deliver breakthrough performance to their EPC partner.

Project Highlights:

  • 98% improvement in adherence to schedule
  • Developed a focused set of metrics to aid in monitoring monitor performance on an on-going basis. This allowed gaps to be identified quickly and corrective actions taken.
  • Implemented a rigorous Operating Rhythm, including a weekly Business Review and daily engineering team discipline “huddles” to review to review/forecast progress to plan, identify bottlenecks and take action.
  • Established a scope challenge process to ensure design changes were effectively reviewed and agreed upon by the client. This improved the workflow, removed roadblocks and got everybody on the same page.
